How to Invest in Wayve Stock: Private and UK-Based

You cannot buy Wayve stock: Wayve is a private company based in London, with no ticker and no IPO mentioned in its announcements. It raised a $1.2 billion Series D at an $8.6 billion post-money valuation in February 2026, with Microsoft, NVIDIA, Uber, SoftBank, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Stellantis among its investors. Unlike Waymo, which runs its own robotaxis, Wayve licenses its AI driver to carmakers, so the way to read it is as a software supplier, and exposure for ordinary investors is only indirect.

Is Wayve publicly traded?

No. Wayve Technologies Ltd is a venture-backed company founded in Cambridge in 2017 and headquartered in London, with an expanding US base in Sunnyvale. Its February 25, 2026 announcement says it raised $1.2 billion in a Series D at an $8.6 billion post-money valuation, within a broader $1.5 billion of capital that includes milestone-based money from Uber. The round was led by Eclipse, Balderton and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Baillie Gifford, the British Business Bank and others, and Microsoft, NVIDIA, Uber, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Stellantis also investing. In July 2026 it announced an $85 million employee tender offer, which lets staff sell vested shares to investors and is not open to the public.

How does Wayve make money?

Wayve describes itself as a licensor: it sells an AI driver, software that runs on a car's own computer and sensors, to automakers, who customize it for their vehicles. For robotaxis it works with Uber, which would own and operate the fleet. That differs from Waymo, which operates its own service. Wayve does not publish revenue.

Waymo is valued about 15 times higher and runs a service people ride today. Wayve's bet is that carmakers want to buy autonomy as software rather than build it, and its commercial rollout is mostly ahead of it: supervised rides in London now, consumer vehicles from 2027 on its own guidance.
