How to Invest in Waymo Stock: It Is Not Listed Yet
You cannot buy Waymo stock directly: Waymo is a private company with no ticker, and no IPO has been announced. Alphabet (GOOGL and GOOG) is its majority investor, so Alphabet shares are the only practical public route. Waymo's $16 billion round in February 2026 valued it at $126 billion, which is only about 2.9% of Alphabet's roughly $4.29 trillion market value on this site's October 17 data, so owning Alphabet is a small bet on Waymo and a much larger bet on everything else Alphabet does.
Is Waymo publicly traded?
No. Waymo is a subsidiary of Alphabet, which calls itself the majority investor, and it has raised outside money privately. In its own announcements Waymo describes a $16 billion equity round on February 2, 2026 at a $126 billion post-money valuation, led by Dragoneer, DST Global and Sequoia Capital, with Andreessen Horowitz, Mubadala Capital, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Temasek and others also investing. On October 8, 2026 it closed a $5 billion term loan, its first debt financing, from lenders led by PIMCO, Blackstone and Sixth Street. None of Waymo's announcements mentions an IPO, a tender offer or a way for the public to buy shares.
How big is Waymo today?
| Measure | What Waymo reports | When |
|---|---|---|
| Paid rides in 2025 | About 15 million, more than triple the year before | February 2026 |
| Weekly rides | More than 400,000 across six metro areas | February 2026 |
| Autonomous miles | 127 million, rising to 270 million through June 2026 | February and September 2026 |
| Cities | A fifteenth US city launched in September 2026; Houston, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa opened to everyone from August to October | August to October 2026 |
| International | Groundwork laid for London and Tokyo; Madrid and Toronto announced | 2026 |
Waymo does not publish revenue. A third-party tracker, Sacra, estimates about $355 million of annualized revenue in February 2026, which is an estimate and not a company figure. If it is roughly right, the $126 billion valuation is a few hundred times revenue, a price for scale that has not happened yet.
What is the best way to get Waymo exposure?
| Route | What you own | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Alphabet (GOOGL or GOOG) | A public company that is Waymo's majority investor | At $126 billion Waymo is about 2.9% of Alphabet's value, so the stock is mostly Search, YouTube and Google Cloud |

What should you watch?
- Alphabet's results on October 28: Waymo sits within Other Bets, so any change in that segment's losses or commentary matters.
- Launch pace: Waymo says it is laying groundwork for more than 20 additional cities in 2026, which is groundwork, not launches.
- Funding: a $16 billion equity round and a $5 billion loan show how capital-hungry scaling a fleet is.
- An IPO announcement: watch SEC EDGAR and Alphabet's announcements.
Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any stock.
